A home being sold for less than the amount owed by the seller.

Why does a short sale take so long?

The current mortgage company must approve any sale for less than the amount owed. This approval process includes verifying income of the seller and his inability to pay. It also includes an appraisal of the home.

What are some of the requirements needed to get approved for a short sale?

The mortgagor will need various items including but not limited to a hardship letter, bank statements, check stubs or unemployment verification, tax returns, and short sale document. Each bank is different on its requirements, I can help you determine which forms your lender will require.
